Tonight, you'll break your one rule...

Prologue:

It was a dark, rainy night. Thunder roared in the skies as lightning accompanied his loud brother. They were making music, music with the sound of water as the background. This may be seen as a placid scene by some, or strange, dark and scary by others.
This is Island Matanceros. The plainest island of Las Cinco Muertes island chain. There are less mountains, and less forest here. That is why In-Gen bought it in 1995. At the beggining there was 2 Islands: Isla Nublar, 120 miles off the coast of Costa Rica, which was a grand park, an island of dreams. Here is where John Hammond showcased his dream. In the late 1980's, it became possible to extract the DNA off a mosquito encased in Amber. Dinosaur DNA happened to be well preserved inside of blood sucking insects from that time, so In-Gen went ahead, and investigated wether they could actually clone a dinosaur from these remains. They never stopped to think wether they should have done it. But it was successful. Then they fathomed an ingenious idea: Make an Island Getaway, with a Zoo in it; a dinosaur zoo. In 1989, while working on the park, several accidents occured. Workers were being killed mysteriously and In-Gen didn't want to disclose any details, and certain investigators went to inspect the park. John Hammond and In-Gen needed the approval of those investigators, with the goal of them endorsing the Park. The Jurassic Park. Once that task was done and it was approved safe, it would gain worldwide fame, and people would flock into its inmense, safe gates. But that wasn't the case. A horrible catastrophe occured in the Island. Dinosaurs escaped their enclosing and started killing visitors, and personnel...That dream was terminated, and In-Gen went bankrupt dealing with all the victims, loss of technology, and millions invested in it. All gone.
The second island, Isla Sorna, 207 miles off Costa Rica, and part of the mysterious chain of islands, was the island where the animals were being made. A giant factory, powered by a massive geothermal plant, made dinosaurs, and kept them safe, from everyone there. In 1995, some bizzarre occurences began to unfold. Giant lizard carcasess appeared elsewhere, outside these islands, and the Costa Rica government was doing everything possible to destroy the evidences. There was an accident involving a British family. Their little girl was bitten by small bird like lizards, and almost died of a different kind of encephalitis. But this didn't stop an avid team of researchers, which happened to include one of the people who went to the first island, traumatized by what had happened to him.
There were losses as well.
But a little known fact is, that in that same year, 1995, In-Gen did a desperate move, and bought Isla Matanceros, another island in that same chain of islands off the coast of Costa Rica. Secretive investors from all over the world, and other genetic companies joined In-Gen in another enterprise. They set up laboratories, factories, and many miles of electric fences, but the difference was that these had a fail-safe mechanism. All of these buildings were protected by inmense gun turrets, constant vigilance, and personnel dedicated to the safety of their island. It looked more like a fortress, and that is exactly what it was. GeoThermal vents are plenty in this island, and easier to obtain, therefore they had double the power, comparing it to the other islands. But it was all secret, no one knew, not even the personel's families.
But something else was being created here. Something more monstrous. Something that went back to the early drawings of John Hammond's ambitions of having custom made dinosaurs...

The night was dark, but it was lightened by the sound of rain, and lighning's power. Ephraim Corchoran was working late at night.

This was 1996, and everything was brand new, all the equipment was brand new, and there were still very few workers. Ephraim was a brilliant genetic engineer, specializing in regeneration of tissue. He had worked with humans before, but there was an incident where he treated a cancer patient, and gave him a placebo, while reconstructing the cancer inside of that patient, as an experiment. He was using T-cells, and rearranging their genes, via some extremely advanced methods, to carry out instructions that gave cell overgrowth. He was caught, naturally, and fired. But In-Gen had their eye on him, and he was employed once again.
He was on the verge of a breakthrough. Using the same methods that made Jurassic PArk infamous, he took another step forward. What would happen if two dinosaurs were...Spliced together?

Posted Image

Instead of using frogs, which also risked asexual reproduction, he sought to complete a Deinonychus' dna with Parasaurolophus dna. But there were some gaps still. So he went to great lengths to acquire an almost complete Deinonychus dna strand.

Posted Image

Using such advanced methods, he slowly began reconstructing the dinosaur whole. It took many months of trials and errors.
Until he succeeded...

He was extremely excited. What he saw, he nurtured, he fed, and he treated as his own son.

Time passed, and this...experiment had grown.

Posted Image

The scientific community, was not told of this, for security reasons. Yet, the Jurassic Park dream was alive again, until, one night in 1998, something happened.

The experiment had shown extremely high levels of anxiety and it became very dangerous. It also seemed to have developed heightened senses, muscular amplification at will, speed, strength and other factors. It seemed like a "super dino".
But it became intolerant of its enclosure; it would not eat, and grew increasingly violent. The scientists were afraid of going near it.
But Ephraim wasn't. He wanted to prove this creature could be smart enough to be domesticated, and since he was its creator, and had been with it since it was a baby, thought the creature would respect and not attack him.

Posted Image

But it was too late. The creature had torn his enclosure apart, and killed two workers almost inmediatly. Ephraim sought to calm it down, but the monster was wreaking havoc throughout the factory, and started killing anything that came close to it viciously. The survivors followed the mosnter through a trail of blood. One scientist proposed wether to turn the turrets on, and place the island in lockdown, but Ephraim refused.
But he met his creation once again, and they looked each other in the eyes, but Ephraim was knocked onto the ground...
Posted Image

The turrets were activated, and 5 surrounded the mosnter, and they dumped continous fire on the animal, which was torn apart by the huge bullets.

It lay dead, next to 24 human beings...Spread all over the island.

In-Gen went through great effort to hide this incident, and the project continued.

They paid nothing to the victim's families.

They never bothered to care.

And the project continued.

They had decided to study the habits, and heightened capabilities of each new creation. They figured that they would make a fortune with this, and more of the secret investors poured their money onto this project. New drafts emerged, such as making these animals for the military, or sell them as guard animals.

They thought they could also create something to control these creatures, to order them to do things. Not just domesticate them, but also to manipulate them.

They could fail a thousand times, but the results were astounding...

They were pleased, and so were the investors.

With everyone happy, what could go wrong?

"We make your future"
"God damn Norman Atherton", said Ken Hutchinson. He referred to In-Gen's slogan. Ken Hutchinson was a young man in his 20's. He was a man of many hobbies. He was an avid spelunker with loads of experience, but of course, he was a Geologist. He had just completed his Masters'Degree at Yale. He was rather young when he experienced a T. Rex rampage through his hometown of San Diego. He and some of his friends had just begun High School and decided to party, even though Ken was a great student. But he was no stranger to partying. From the balcony of his friends' building, he heard a strange noise, next to the Gas Station with the big red 8 ball inviting you to beware of the rising prices, and he saw a red Corvette, being chased by a huge reptillian form. A T. Rex. A friggin T.Rex. Ever since then, he had become obsessed with what he had seen. He liked science, and with the growing resources, he sook out In-Gen's infamy, and decided that one day, he would be speaking with them. And so he was standing at In-Gen's doorway, in Palo Alto, California. The black haired man saw his partner in crime, James Kesey, who also had seen the beast storm the Gas Station. "He made your future, ironically. I know he made mine". James was just becoming a paleontologist and seemed to follow Ken around in their exploits all thoughout the American North West digging for fossils. James was Ken's age, and was engaged to his High School sweet heart. Ken was more of a party animal and always ended up with more than one lady...
"What do you think these guys are like?" Ken added. "I don't know, but they must be the kind of person that...I don't know, we'll just have to find out. But lets not get too close to them. They already ruined the lives of lots of people. Grant always lectured me on the influences people have on people. Then I left Montana. I hope he didn't take it personally" James responded, smiling. Together they entered the building, which featured a big chandellier, crimson walls with relaxing beach pictures, one that happened to be one of those where you've got to look through to see what's hidden inside of them, but this one was hard, or so did they think. Only few people had seen it. Some said that there was nothing in the picture at all, them being the owners of the picture. Some said they could see some sort of dragon or dinosaur... "May I help you?" Asked a man in a red suit. "Yes, uhm...we're here to see...a Mr. Tim Murphy. We have an appointment." "Right this way" said the man.
Ken and James went through a hallway with more pictures, and it had a hospital feeling to it. No more were the the chandeliers or the crimson walls. Now they were white and light blue. Then they stopped at a door. They entered the door, which was labeled "Tim Murphy, CEO", and saw a conforable looking couch, a TV set, and some office implements. The room didn't look much like an office.
"Hi, I'm Tim, Tim Murphy" said a young tall man. "Hi I'm Kenneth Hutch and this is James Kesey" "Nice to finally meet you, Mr. Murphy". "Call me Tim. As you know, John Hammond was my grandfather, and, well...I hope I look nothing like him" Tim said smiling and pointing to the large picture on the wall. Tim was John's grandson, and he wasn't Scottish. Tim had experienced some of In-Gen's catastrophes, in a very personal level, but he was the only one who could be the new face of the company. All the others were dead. Tim had recently become CEO of In-Gen. The man before Tim quit and decided to give up all his assets, as the company went public, he did too. But that wasn't the truth...Assets were shared between many Japanese corporations that expected to make a profit, but they were patient, even though it was 10 years of continuous losses. "So you got my memo, alright! I bet Malcolm isn't interested, or Grant, in our mistakes, so they weren't the ones who informed you. Who informed you about us?" Tim asked. "It was the T.Rex that toppled the ball, he was the initial informer, and I informed myself" Ken said, taking a seat". "Hah very well. I apologize for all these mysterious circumstances, but...I've been recently shown a couple of files. We seemingly bought some stuff little less than 10 years ago. Like...IT was strange, because I was shown these files yesterday. Can I trust you to keep a secret?" Tim said, with a grave sounding voice, which didn't seem to fit his character. "umm...of course?" James said, a bit jokingly. "Umm...our company made another mistake, and it seems that we're going to be paying billions sooner or later, or Biosyn and other blood thristy companies are going to buy us off, even with our partners...You see...I assure you I was informed about this yesterday. I didn't believe it when I saw it, but...We have a third island apparently, bought over ten years ago. We built a lab and continued my Grandpa's dream, but we weren't fully funding it. I still gotta find out who it was, but, there's some stolen stuff and some other...I don't know, its a lot of paperwork, but the thing is, they were making monsters again, and for some reason, this place has been really quiet after the T.Rex rampage in San Diego, which was a sad thing...My uncle seemingly repaid his debt that night, but...agh". Tim sounded extremely nervous, and he wanted something done, but he just didn't know how to put it into words. "I've assembled a small team, don't think of this as a James Bond movie or anything, you ain't gonna be doing spying, but...Even though I myself don't agree to all this BS my grandpa left for me, out of loyalty, I don't want this company to drift into Biosyn, as we'd be giving them the pleasure, and other stuff...And...I don't know, our investors show confidence in these little monsters, so...I was going to ask you something..." "What is it Mr...Tim? Do we get to go on a wild adventure like Malcolm and your uncle?Heh, we'd be glad to. Grant won't agree with us, but, the hell with Grant. Like...What do you want us to do exactly?" James asked sounding confident and somehow happy. Ken was smiling too. "We need you to help endorse our products...The world doesn't trust us, and truthfully this is the kind of bull Biosyn would be pulling off, but before I got the chair, a looong time ago, our company decided to "expand" their horizons and capabilities...and someone thought that would save us. Obviously the stupid idiots who keep funding this seem to be interested. Very interested. And...I don't know, but you two seem to be the right kind of people to go to the island and see for yourself what we're doing, but...Your safety is guaranteed, I'll have failsafe mechanisms on at all times, and people watching you over, and...I don't know, I think I want to come with you guys, I think there's something I gotta see for myself. I'm so sorry about the short notice, but...This is very necessary. Some of our assets go public in a week, and then we'd be screwed, I'm rather new to all this business thing. I trained to be a Paleontologist, and all this bull seems to be catching up to me...I'm sorry" Tim explained. "Sorry? for what? this is the dream of a lifetime! No offense, but, I've wanted this my whole entire friggin life! working my butt off just for this moment." Ken said. "You just wouldn't understand my point of view. I'm in charge of a vicious ugly monster that makes vicious ugly monsters. I hope I'm not creating ugly vicious monsters as well...But if I have to, if I'm obliged to...Its just...complicated. I almost got eaten once, and...well...I'm scared of the stuff I oversee. Its bs, I know, but..." Tim rambled on, as he got out a couple of forms. "We understand, but, I assure you, we got no lives, and if we die, we won't charge" Ken said joking...
"That's real funny Ken, I might throw you into a museum one day for that" James said, reffering to Ken's liking of the outdoors. "Fine...sign this. Its kinda like, yeah, like when you're gonna have a surgery and stuff. I had to come up with this for you two. After all, its your choice...and the investor's ideas." Tim said, handing out the forms. "Heh, may the In-Gen be with you!!! boo woo" Ken said as he signed the paper. James also signed, but he had much hesitation on his mind. "Welcome aboard the Titanic, gentlemen" Tim said, laughing and impressed of the seemingly carelessness of Ken. "You sure?" Tim asked. "Sure like never before." Ken said, and felt very excited, altough he wouldn't comment. "you guys are leaving tomorrow, I leave the day after. So...yes, you just get to the island. Parks Smith will be your guide there, and, you just...take an initial look at our buildings, and the next day we look at everything else. Now, I gotta get home, Beth is waiting for me, we're going out to dinner, so...I'll see you then gentlemen, and thank you so very much for coming. If I could, I'd pay you, but...That kind of depends on what we accomplish. Grant would be very mad with me right now..."...

Ken and JAmes sped off in their Toyota, and thought it over, but there was little hesitation, they had been expecting this for a life time, and they thought of the many possibilities they would talk with In-Gen for the next couple of years. They felt confidence in In-Gen. Confidence no one else shared, but they were armed with many weapons such as the expect the unexpected Malcolm slogan, and Ludlow's skeleton in their minds.

Ready

"G'day, mates" said a strong looking man with an Australian accent and padded clothes. "I'll be your guide. Been working on the park as the game expert for a coupl' o' years now...gets real intense som' times. Remember, we be leaving in a couple of hours, and we kindly provided everything we'll need. Come, meet the rest o' the team." "What do they expect us to do? kill zombies?" Ken said, when looking at all the weapons and hi-tech stuff, including a trailer for outside camping. They walked up to a nice, red haired beauty assembling some testing equipment. Ken whistled and said "Well who do we have here?" Ken said, giving her his hand to shake. "Sirotzki, Hannah Sirotzki" she said, giggling. "You some sort of secret agent?" James said. "No, I'm just the animal behavior expert. Believe me, these guys seemed real desperate when they got me" she said, taking Ken's hand and then JAmes, shaking both cassualy, as if she had known them for a long time. "Jack King, at your service" said a young half-Asian man wearing a green cap and some padded green clothes. "This 'ere is our techie. He's a tech expert and he made all this wonderful 'quipment for us to guard ourselves from them hungry dinos" Said Parks. James looked worried. "Ya, they'll rip our limbs off, they should all be destroyed" A tough looking man in shorts emerged. "Dan Roubertson, apprentice to the late Robert Muldoon". Everyone gasped except Parks. "Wasn't Muldoon killed in...well...Jurassic Park?" asked James, again, looking at this journey with hesitation. "Yes. But he would have liked me to continue his work, like we did in Kenya" he said in a heavy South African accent."...Roight, we ready?" Said Parks looking at a truck that was to load all the equipment and transport it to the airport where it would fly on a cargo plane to Isla Matanceros.
"The rest of the team is already in Isla Matanceros" Hannah remarked. "Roight, they be waiting for us at the lab" Parks said. "Ready for this Ken?" James asked his friend, with an awful ominous feeling covering his whole. "Hmm...Let me see...YES!! C'mon you dumbass, of course I'm ready. I wanna see these beasties just as much as you do, now, come lets get on the cab". James hesitated but got on the cab. Then, Parks, and the rest of the possé. "All ready, Jack? is everything ready?" asked a voice on Jack's sattelite phone.
